These past two weeks, OHS alum Tessa Janecke (https://twitter.com/usahockey/status/1778602361881006395) and Team USA have been competing in the IIHF Women's World Championship in Utica, New York. They dominated in Group A to advance to the quarterfinal, then the semifinal. Their win today means they move on to face Canada in the gold medal match tomorrow (4/14/24). If you're attending the Rising Star Classic today to cheer on Whitney and Coach Doyle with the all-area girls, it takes place at Rock Valley College at the RVC/PEC Building main gym. Start is 5 pm. Cost for entry is $8 per adult, $5 per for senior citizens or students with ID.

Tomorrow is the first of several all-star games which Whitney Sullivan has been invited to take part in. This first game is the local Rising Star Classic, which takes place at Rock Valley College, and our own Jay Doyle will be coaching the Area Girls team! Best of luck!

A big congratulations goes out to Coach Jay Doyle for being named the IL Basketball Coaches Association District 10 Coach of the Year... again! What an honor to win this award back-to-back, along with all his other accomplishments. We are proud to have Jay coach our Lady Broncos!

Pat Doyle has been selected by the IPA (NW Region) as a 2023-24 recipient for the Non-Certified Support Personnel Leadership Award! Orangeville has known what an amazing individual Pat is for a long time, but we are excited that others now recognize and honor her as well!

Now that the US eclipse fun is over, you might have heard that Latin America will experience an eclipse this fall, so there are places collecting eclipse glasses to give to school children there. If you have eclipse glasses in good shape that you don't want to keep, please consider donating them. Please send them in to school, by next Thursday, the 18th, and we will package and send them to the donation center. Thank you!

Good afternoon Orangeville families, In response to recent events regarding the viewing of the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, Orangeville has made the decision to have students safely view the event on a link that will be sent out to teachers to view in classrooms. The exception to the remote viewing will be Mrs. Brown’s 4th grade class due to a unit of study in relation to this solar event. Permission slips will be required for the 4th grade students to view the event with approved solar eclipse safety glasses. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter. Tomorrow, 4/7/24, from noon to 4 pm, Servant Leadership is having a wings lunch at Cedar Inn in Cedarville to raise money for Hearts and Hands for Hunger. For $10, you get six big wings! Each ticket sold will help purchase 16 meals for children in third world countries.

Due to the condition of the fields, the Orangeville Varsity Tournament has been cancelled for the weekend. However, in the hope that we can get the softball field playable by then, there will be two home games on Saturday (4/6/24): vs. Argyle @ 12:00 and vs. East Dubuque @ 2:00.
